WiPry App Reviews

This "Demo" of which you speak is..

..perhaps the most remarkable piece of software I have seen IN YEARS. I have only used this limited version since last night and it alone has convinced me a hardware run is forthcoming. The capabilities beyond wifi...lets just say my McIntosh Amp. is getting fixed soon. Excellent work! Illiterate children, please move on.

Lots of colors

Really, you need and additional device? For what? Pointless app.

Expand lower band functionality.

Nice app and hardware. Would like to see spectrum analysis for low band frequencies and not just the power meter. Make that update and youll gain a market network of RF audio engineers in television and music production.

Purchase MORE hardware for new features?!

This was a fantastic app. The spectrum analyzer worked great. My original review was a 4 star. The just updated it, and touted how you can now view SSID information... What they neglect to make clear, is you need to purchase a new piece of hardware to do so. I dont need the power test leads, so luckily I didnt spend the big dollars on the full kit. But less than a year ago, I bought the wifi analyzer, and now, I either need to buy a new one, or not utilize the new features. Im an extremely small business, and dont have the money for an upgrade like this, in such a short period of time. It may still be the cheapest option, but this is a huge kick to the you know what for a small shop like me.

Working well- upgrading.

Ive owned the wipry for a year now and it has been working great. I would have given it 5 stars but because I have to buy the upgraded version for ssid use I gave it 4. The company should have an upgrade or trade in price for us loyal customers.

Doesnt do anything.

Stays in DEMO mode

Fantastic 2.4ghz spectrum analyzer

Yeah, the hardware seems expensive . But when it comes down to it, this is the better option over other devices. My only problem is that as of today, (9-18-14) it does not support iOS 8 for my iPhone 4s. The only other thing is that you need an adapter for newer iPhones to make it work.

Great

Great Wi-Fi spectrum analyzer!

Great idea for $300.00

They kinda leave that part out until you research further as to why an adaptor is required to read a WiFi signal on a device that is already capable of reading a WiFi signal. Upon contacting the company I was treated with a snide reply. As if I were ignorant. Humm,

Great app with WiPry Pro hardware

Must have device for IOS user both iPhone and iPad for professional grade Wireless Survey. Spectrum analyzer scan any 2.4Ghz frequency yet the WiPry-Pro includes the SSID table with channels and signal db. For those uses and myself inssider , stumbler application on PC/Mac then you can eliminate with your IOS device to do exactly the same results but specify to survey instead of using mix grade of wifi chipset on laptop that you have. Initial scan takes 2min with Osmium free IOS app but after that it takes only 20sec rescan. You may think this numbers long but when you actually survey the site. you would easily walk 20sec to next location so I did not see as an issues. Remind you that if you exit the IOS app or put in background , 2min countdown will start so I suggest to stay within the app while you are survey the signal. I am IT Network Consultant for living and installs many retails hospitality location for wifi and this tool has been great while some of my customer request to use inssider but I have been testing and results are great. Look the price on Metageeks sells on their hardware. Osmium has more to offer in portability rather using PC with expensive USB dongles. New OSCIUM IOS app is iPhone 6 plus compatible so that screen will show correct single and does not cuff which where in prior version of the Osmium WiPry IOS app.

Misleading

This apps description is misleading. The demo mode just displays noise not actual signal breakdown. After reading review about obtaining hardware why not purchase a real spectrum analyzer for that kind of money. Lets be real and upfront about your product you might get more and better support from potential customers

Wheres the 5ghz support

5ghz wifi has been around and is gaining traction with 802.11ac so why would you not include this in your product. The iPhone is already dual band compatible.

Dont bother unless you have hardware.

Needs accessory in description.

Pay no attention to the clueless reviews

If you need a spectrum analyzer for 2.4Ghz and you dont have thousands of dollars for dedicated hardware this is an amazing product. Its inexpensive, small and provides useful information quickly and easily. To reviewers complaining that you have to pay for hardware: what were you expecting exactly? There are a number of apps which are free with hardware, its not hard to delete and if you cant read the description which clearly states that you need hardware I dont feel bad for you at all. To the reviews complaining about not being able to see the SSID or other Wi-Fi information, please go learn the difference between a protocol analyzer and a spectrum analyzer, they are different things. Update: the new hardware supports getting Wi-Fi network info as well as the raw spectrum data and has much higher resolution.

Simulation without hardware

Without the hardware antenna, the GUI is only a simulation. It does not measure radio frequencies.

I use it in my sales meeting to clients

Its easy to immediately set up; no waiting to boot up like a PC. I use it in sales meetings with prospects to show the current wifi traffic. This gives me credibility in that I have a real wifi tool. Other data techs have nothing, and just try to blindly sell another access point. Many clients have never seen any wifi diagnostic tool, and for the price, this cant be beat.

Confusing

AMAZING!! Love it!! But dont understand anything at all... You need a beginners guide to beginning.

Pointless

This is a demo and not an app. Pointless.

Demo with fake data

Big "Demo mode" watermark on the background says it all. I think this one slipped past Apples review process for apps. You know, the part that says your app has to be functional and not a demo or trial period.

Original hardware is stranded?

Ive used and enjoyed wipry for a few years off and on. I went back to use it again and find lots of new features that arent supported on the original hardware. I seem to be stuck without spending another few hundred $$ to buy new hardware. There is no mention of the old hardware on the website anymore as if it never existed! Yikes! Beware!
