Could be a little better, but not a big deal. Thanks
To use this app you need to purchase their WiPry–Pro device which plugs into your thunderbolt port. The software is amazingly informative. It shows all of the Wi-Fi access points inside my home and it also shows every access point that it can hear anywhere near my home. What I have found out regarding my own home is that a couple of my WAPS are communicating on exactly the same channel. So to remedy that Im going to make them operate on different channels so they do not collide with each other. I would never have discovered this problem without this amazing tool.
Just got this guy and still learning how to use it. But so far seems like a little gem of a device. Im going to use it to validate Zigbee networks for Control4, and wifi deployments. High hopes here.
Overall good product, but a bit slow and crashes every ten minutes or so
I was having issues with my home wifi network. The problems were new and intermittent, and I thought they might be caused by interference from other devices. The networking engineers at work recommended WiPry +the $200 antenna if I really wanted to know what was going on. Since we were not able to use a bunch of devices that in aggregate cost way more than $200 I took the plunge. In short order I was able to see how crowded the spectrum in our house was and rule out things that I thought were interfering. Bottom line is that there were a bunch of things going on that this tool made visible. Previously I has spent a couple of hours walking around the house with my laptop with some wifi tools trying to figure it out with little luck. If you are having home wifi issues and are not technically inclined you are probably better paying someone to come in and do the work for you. If you like figuring stuff out then this a great tool.
As is the free app is useless. Evidently you need to buy a $200 device to use the app.
Needs to include 5Ghz frequency. I like the graphics, gives a quick overall picture.
An excellent tool for diagnosing wifi and analog 2.4GHz signals. Hopefully they will make a 5.8 GHz version.
I use this application and hardware routinely to verify Wi-Fi performance. There is simply no better way that I have found to do this. I can see all of the Wi-Fi routers and I can also see all of my neighbors and even local businesses that are nearly 5 blocks away. This app will give you a very good idea of what Wi-Fi bands are being used and it will therefore help you improve your Wi-Fi performance
